FULSHEAR, TX (KTRK) — A silence continues to hang over a Fort Bend County neighborhood after a shooting rocked the usually quiet street.
Fort Bend County Sheriff’s deputies say Taylor Sheats, 22, and Madison Sheats, 17, were shot and killed by their mother Christy Sheats, 42, on Friday around 5pm. A Fulshear police officer shot and killed Christy at the home on Remson Hollow Lane when she refused to drop her weapon. Only the husband and father, Jason Sheats, was not harmed.
An eyewitness saw Taylor, Madison and Jason running out of their home. According to the eyewitness, the young women were already wounded. The neighbor said Taylor collapsed on the street and he saw Christy come outside with a gun and then go back inside to reload. When she emerged again, she shot Madison in the back, according to the eyewitness.
Deputies said a dispute lead up to the shooting.
“All I saw was the police officer aiming his rifle toward someone and saying ‘drop your weapons,’ and then afterward another gunshot,” explained neighbor Sabeeh Siddiqui. “Soon after that there were a lot of police cars that came.”
Another neighbor, who said she was close to the family, told abc13 the couple had recently reunited after being separated. She said the shooting happened on Jason’s birthday.
Friends of the two young women are struggling to come to terms with the shooting.
“She was just such a sweet girl. She had tons of friends, me and him both. I just can’t believe it happened,” said a visibly stunned Matthew Wiley about Taylor.
Madison was set to be a senior at Seven Lakes High School this fall.
“She seemed like a nice person. I talked to her a few times,” neighbor Faaiz Siddiqui said. “Especially Taylor. She babysat us a few times and my brother got tutor lessons from her. All I can say is they are nice people. There’s nothing wrong with them.”
Madison’s close friend, who wanted to stay anonymous, told Eyewitness News that Madison was nice to everyone.
“Madison brought nothing but happiness to everyone she ever met. She was nice to everyone and she wouldn’t have harmed a fly,” the friend said.
Alick Arnold grew up not far from the Sheats home and said he was a family friend.
“He (Jason) loved his daughters. They were like best friends for sure,” he added. “It crushed him. I know it’s hard for the family.”

NEW YORK ― An imam and a member of his congregation were shot dead on Saturday when a lone gunman opened fire as the two were leaving prayer services, according to multiple reports.
Witnesses heard several shots fired near the Al-Furqan Jame Masjid Mosque in Queens at about 1:50 p.m., according to the New York Daily News. The two men were found lying in a pool of blood and witnesses said they’d both been shot in the head.
The 55-year-old imam, Maulama Akonjee, and his 64-year-old associate, Tharam Uddin, were both pronounced dead later Saturday, The Associated Press reported.

Mosque leader Maulama Akonjee and his assistant Iman Thara Uddin were dressed in Muslim garb when the killer “approached from behind and shot” from point-blank range, said NYPD Deputy Inspector Henry Sautner of the Queens South Detective Bureau.

Akonjee, 55, a married father of three, was a respected religious leader since his arrival in Queens from Bangladesh less than two years ago. The bearded Uddin, 65, died about four hours after the attack.
“We are all crying,” said his brother Mashuk Uddin. “There’s so much crying.”
Scores of worshippers from the mosque gathered within hours at the murder scene to denounce the cold-blooded ambush as a hate crime.

“That’s not what America is about,” said local resident Khairul Islam, 33. “We blame Donald Trump for this . . . Trump and his drama has created Islamophobia.”

This is the moment a Los Angeles police officer shot dead a homeless man on a sidewalk in broad daylight.
In a video posted online, four officers are seen standing over the victim, who was sat among sleeping bags and tents in Skid Row, downtown LA.
While two police detain his female friend, another can be heard shouting: ‘Drop the gun! Drop the gun!’
Five gun shots are then fired and the man lies lifeless, face down. According to LAPD spokesman Sgt Barry Montgomery, the officers were answering a robbery call at midday on Sunday when they got into the struggle with the suspect, the Associated Press reported.
They first used a stun gun before shooting him, Montgomery said.
He was later declared dead at a hospital.
The man, who has not been identified, lies lifeless on the sidewalk. Witnesses captured on the video scream: ‘Motherf***er! Motherf***er! They just killed that man!’ as more officers pull up and order the crowds to disperse.
‘Ain’t nobody got no motherf***ing gun!’ shouted one witness as he filmed the incident.
Police did not immediately say how many officers were involved or how many shots were fired. Nor did they say whether the man was armed or identify him.
