Top Los Angeles County officials including Sheriff Jim McDonnell and Dist. Atty. Jackie Lacey have joined a November election battle, announcing support for preserving California’s death penalty and reforming the state’s appeals process.
The death penalty should be “for the worst of the worst,” McDonnell said Monday night at an event dubbed, “Mend, Don’t End California’s Death Penalty.”
“We want to be in a position to be able to say that there is a disincentive for the most horrific of murders,” McDonnell said.

Twenty years after the murder of 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey, several networks are dedicating programming to the unsolved case. JonBenet, a child beauty queen, was found beaten and strangled in the basement of her family’s home in Boulder, Colorado, in 1996. CBS announced Wednesday it will air a six-part docuseries, “The Case of: JonBenet Ramsey.” Original investigators will team up with new experts to re-examine the evidence using today’s technology and forensics. They will also rebuild the crime scene, conduct interviews and offer new theories. “The Case of: JonBenet Ramsey” premieres September 18th.

Dean Corll was a serial killer from Houston, TX who, with the help of teenage accomplices Elmer Henley and David Brooks, raped, tortured and murdered at least 27 boys teen-aged and younger. The case only came to light when 17 year old Henley shot and killed Corll. He then told a story that no one believed. Until he led the police to the buried bodies of 27 boys. For 1973 this was unheard of. Before Bundy, before Gacy, even before Juan Corona who also had over 2 dozen bodies discovered the following year, there was Dean Corll, Elmer Henley and David Brooks.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A grateful mother’s Facebook post has gone viral after an Arkansas Olive Garden waiter went above and beyond to make sure everyone enjoyed their meal.
Exhausted and hungry, Dallas French says she and her family went to the Little Rock eatery after leaving the Arkansas Children’s Hospital where her 4-month-old daughter, Ellee, had just tested positive for E. coli, according to WPVI.
Once they got to the restaurant, French’s tough day got worse – “I was trying to make a bottle and spilled it all over me and the floor,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “Our waiter (wish I knew his name) watched all that had happened and just had brought our salad and bread sticks.”
Unable to eat until her daughter was fed, French started making another bottle – and then their waiter, Robert Davis, surprised everyone.
Davis said, “Here, let me feed her and you eat,” French remembered. “This melted all of us … he didn’t even know what we had went through that day and showed us love and understanding – not irritated that I had made a mess and my baby was screaming.”
A photo of the touching moment has been shared more than 20,000 times on Facebook:

New York City Police have arrested 23-year-old John Gotti, along with six others, for narcotics charges. Gotti, above, is the grandson of the infamous late “Teflon Don,” the boss of the Gambino crime family, also named John Gotti. Among the defendants include Gotti’s girlfriend. The takedown, called “Operation Beach Party,” was at the home where the late Gambino crime boss lived. The charge is distribution of oxycodone and other prescription pills.
